HISTORY: Prior to practising on her own, Aye Cheng was a partner in the firm of M/s Aye Cheng & Grace which she started with a partner on 10 February 2003. As a partner with M/s Aye Cheng & Grace, Aye Cheng handled her own files pertaining to, amongst other areas, matrimonial matters and property transactions, serving those clients on land and property transactions ranging from leases, landlords and tenants queries to buying and selling of properties. Prior to M/s Aye Cheng & Grace, Aye Cheng was a partner with M/s Wendy Wong & Partners where she joined the firm in March 1996. At M/s Wendy Wong & Partners, Aye Cheng oversaw the firm’s corporate secretarial practice where the firm’s clients included private limited companies and companies listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange. In addition, Aye Cheng was also 1 of the 2 partners working in the litigation and corporate department. As a litigant, Aye Cheng advised foreign and local clients and financial institutions and on legal and regulatory matters relating to their business operations and on their commercial documentation pertaining to loans, guarantees (personal and corporate) and hire purchases and as well as drafting documents such as joint venture/investment agreements, mortgage, loan agreements, sale and purchase of share agreements, distributorship, tenancy agreements, employment agreements and confidentiality agreements. In addition, she provided civil litigation and dispute resolution where she acted for financial institutions in the recovery and restructure of debts repayment of their outstanding accounts. Aye Cheng was also put in charge of all matrimonial, probate and administration matters in the firm. In respect of matrimonial matters, she has experience in both contentious and non-contentious divorces. Prior to joining M/s Wendy Wong & Partners, Aye Cheng spent 2 years with M/s Winston Chen & Partners dealing with all aspects of general solicitors work.
